A Thoughtful Family Holiday in India

You can’t set out on family holidays in India on a whim. For that matter, planning family holidays anywhere in the world is not trouble-free. But in talking about holidays in India, it’s not that you drive out to a Disneyland or a Sentosa Island knowing well that your family will have a blast and you will have your pennies accounted for! However, just because India doesn’t boast of theme or amusement parks doesn’t mean it’s shortchanged in anyway.

India tours offer great infotainment holidays, if that is what you’re looking for when you take your kids holidaying. One such day-long trip is a visit to Delhi’s Railway Museum. Not too many tourists fit this museum into their Golden Triangle tour, but if you’re out with kids then the Qutub Minar will pale in comparison to the joy your kids will experience at the museum.

Even if your kids are a jet setting bunch, there is yet to be a child who hasn’t enjoyed the quick ride on the miniature rail track and from what we last heard, you don’t have to pay for it! Of course, the museum is a must for train-lovers but as a parent, there’s a quick lesson in history that becomes easier to narrate.
The collection at the museum includes the oldest working locomotive in the world and India’s first steam engine that chugged its way from Mumbai to Thane in 1853. If that’s not enough, you can feast your eyes on the Prince of Wales Saloon and the Maharaja of Mysore’s saloon.

Travel to India is incomplete without experiencing the great Indian railways one way or the other!
