Alappuzha Travel Guide

Located in the midst of lush greenery and blue waters, Alleppey or Alappuzha, is one of the exotic locations in Gods own country. Washed by the Arabian Sea, Alappuzha is a very sought out place and an important tourist destination in the catalogue of Kerala tourism. Alappuzha is well known for its coir that is locally made and carpets. The quality of the coir and the materials with which the carpets are made are durable and worth the price. Other materials that can be shopped for include pepper, coconut oil, areca nut, cardamom, sugar et cetera. The most popular market to shop around is the Kayamkulam market.

How to reach Alappuzha:

Getting to Alappuzha is easy as it is linked with some of the major cities like Cochin, Chennai, Howrah, Bangalore et cetera.

By Air: The nearest airport is 64 kilometers north of Alappuzha and is located in Kochi. As for the Trivandrum airport, it is located 159 kilometers south of Alappuzha.

By Rail: Ernakulam railway station would be the best option as it has a number of trains running from and to the major cities located nearby.

By Road: the route to be taken is NH- 47 that passes through Alappuzha and connects it to almost all the nearby places.
