Kumarakom Travel Guide

Kumarakom is a tiny tourist village in Kottayam district, Kerala. Surrounded by the Vembanad Lake, which is supposed to be the largest backwater in Kerala, Kumarakom is the perfect blend of nature and its psyches. The Taj Garden Retreat is the first modern tourist resort in Kumarakom and is supposed to have been the house of four generations of the Baker family. The bungalow is reminiscent of the hard work and pain of the workers involved in the construction of the bungalow.

To indulge in extensive shopping the tourists can travel to a market in Cochin, which is located at a distance of 70 kilometers from Kumarakom.

By Rail: the best route to take when travelling by railway train would be the one that is from Kottayam and is at a distance of 16 kilometers.

By Road: the availability of buses and taxis for 24 hours from Kottayam makes it easy to travel even late at night.
