Kishangarh is a city in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Kishangarh is popularly known as the place of origin for the Kishangarh style of painting. This city of Rajasthan has come to be known as the marble city of India with a temple of the nine planets that you will not find in any other part of the world. Founded in 1609, this city was once the capital of princely state that was ruled by the Rathores. The miniature paintings are based on the principles of the Bani Thani style that got its name from a story with a twist of romance. Bani Thani is believed to have been a court singer and poet in the 18th century.
