Coimbatore Travel Guide

Coimbatore is the second largest city in the state of Tamil Nadu. This volatile city popularly known as the ‘Manchester of South India’ is located at the foot of the scenic Nilgiri Hills on the banks of the River Noyyal. The evergreen forests and mountains nearby make many a tourist deeply enchanted to remember forever. It has a pleasant climate all through the year with breezy winds blowing across the city from even distant Palakkad in neighbouring Kerala. Its amusement parks, botanical gardens, museums, wild life sanctuaries are talked about widely. The most popular Hill resort ‘Ooty’ is also located nearby.

Coimbatore’s plush black soil provides the fertile ground for its staple crop ‘cotton’ that has supplied the base for the city’s thriving textile industry that began long back in 1888.
