Kanyakumari Travel Guide

Located at the southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula, Kanyakumari derives its name from the Kanyakumari temple located on the sea shore. Formerly known as Cape Comorin, the city manifests a glorious attribute of the divine nature with its dynamic sea shores, magnificent hills and spectacular sun-rise and sunset. The multicoloured sands on the beaches, rich coconut trees and the amazing temples leave you sublimely mesmerised.

What adds to the beauty of the city is the sensational confluence of Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea that enthrals and stuns at the same time. On an exclusive full moon evening (Chitra Pournami), the setting sun can be seen simultaneously with the moon-rise on either side of the horizon.
