Karur Travel Guide

Karur is an ancient city of Tamil Nadu with its history dating back over 2000 years. 371 km south west of Chennai (capital of Tamil Nadu), Karur is one of the most centrally located districts in the state. Once a part of Coimbatore, Karur became a part of Thiruchirapalli district in the early 20th century. A separate Karur district was formed on 30th September 1995 by trifurcating the Tiruchirappalli district.

Karur has witnessed many princely battles in the past due to its strategic location. The centuries old monuments in the city provide a glimpse into the glorious history of the place.
